NSF filter certification is very important when selecting a home water filter. NSF is the National Sanitation Foundation International, the world renown independent organzation that tests and certifies water treatment systems for performance. Water filter replacement cartridges can be reverse osmosis, activated carbon, or other technologies. Each system is designed for filtering specific chemicals. NSF will perform a rigorous test on a filter to see if it can perform as claimed by the manufacturer. The filter will receive NSF certification if it passes the test. Some filters also receive state certifications in lieu of or in addition to the NSF certification. Certified filters gives the peace of mind because it has been reviewed and/or tested by an independent body to ensure that the system will do exactly what the manufacturer says it would do. For instance, Multi-Pure drinking water systems have been tested and certified by NSF for the reduction of one of the widest range of contaminants under NSF/ANSI Standard No. 53, Health Effects. In addition to being certified under NSF/ANSI Standard No. 53, Multi-Pure’s filters are certified under NSF/ANSI Standard No. 42, Aesthetic Effects. Systems like these will give consumers confidence that Multi-Pure filters will perform just as the company claimed. Although NSF certified filters may not guarantee a 100% performance, there is more assurance it will perform more effectively than non-certified systems. This will also ensure that a buyer will be getting the best for for his or her money. Therefore, if you are looking for an effective filtration system instead of a cheap one, it is best to select a certified filtering system. |
