All whole house water filters are not created equal

Whole house water filters come in different sizes, performances, prices and manufacturers. Some are certified by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) International and/or other independent organizations and some are not. If you buy a third-party certified water filter for your home you can be confident that your system has been tested by other professionals beside the manufacturers’ engineers and technicians.
Some whole house water filters can treat large flows while others can only treat small flows before filters are clogged. If you make the best choice, it could help in the frequency of replacement filter cartridges. If you use a lot of water and your water is highly contaminated, you may have to replace your filter cartridge more frequently.
Water filters are designed and/or certified to reduce certain contaminants in your water. If your water has sediment problems, you will need to choose a filter that can reduce sediment from your water. You could be wasting your money if you buy a fancy and possibly expensive filter that is only certified to reduce chlorine in water.
You want to choose a whole house water filter base on high performance and not on price alone. A less costly water filter price could perform better. Similarly, a cheaper filter could become a problem.
The best approach to selecting a filter system to treat water for your home should be the evaluation of performance, certification, and how long the manufacturer has been in the filter business.
