Finding the best filtration system to filter out arsenic in home drinking water
Arsenic is known to cause-causing cancer chemicals if ingested by humans. Arsenic could be present in municipally supplied drinking water or private well water. Arsenic in water has no color, taste or odor. Arsenic and phosphate easily substitute for one another chemically, therefore commercial grade phosphate can have some arsenic in it. The maximum contaminant level (MCL) set by EPA is 0.010 mg/l (10 parts per billion). It’s unhealthy if the concentration of this chemical exceeds this level.
First find out if your water contaminated with Arsenic
The first thing to do before you buy a treatment system to filter out arsenic is to test to make sure your water is really contaminated with arsenic or other pollutants; or if the arsenic concentration is high enough to warrant the need to spend money on a filtration system. If your test shows that you need a filtration system, you will have enough information when choosing a filter for your water. Self testing kits are very inexpensive. You can find arsenic testing kit for less than $20.00, or for as high as $186.99 on Amazon. Even if you hire a testing lab the result will almost be the same with a home testing kit. You can save yourself some money if you buy a home testing kit.
